Why Fit Matters More Than Size

Why Fit Matters More Than Size

Raise your hand if this has happened to you.

You try on two garments from the same brand. The dress fits perfectly in a Medium. The trousers barely button the same size.

So you size up. Five minutes later, you're wondering:

"Have I put on weight?"

Probably not. The garment was simply designed differently.

And that's exactly why clothing size is one of the least reliable indicators of how something will look on you.

Why Clothing Sizes Feel So Inconsistent

One of the biggest frustrations women face with clothes shopping is the lack of consistency in sizing.

A Medium in one brand can fit like a Small in another. Even within the same brand, different silhouettes often require different sizing.

That's because garments are affected by:

  • fabric stretch

  • garment construction

  • intended fit

  • silhouette

  • grading methods

In other words -

The size label is much more a manufacturing reference.

It isn't a measure of beauty. It isn't a measure of fitness. And it certainly isn't a measure of your worth.

The Emotional Weight of a Size Label

Here's the part we rarely talk about. Many women don't just wear a size.

They carry the emotions attached to it. I've experienced this myself.

My size has changed several times throughout adulthood. For years, every change felt personal. If I had to size up, I questioned my discipline. If I sized down, I celebrated.

Yet when I looked back at photographs, I realised something surprising.

The outfits I felt most confident in weren't necessarily the smallest sizes. They were simply the ones that fit me well. That changed everything. I stopped looking at the label. I started looking in the mirror.

What Good Fit Actually Looks Like

A garment fits well when it moves with you—not against you.

Ask yourself:

✔ Can I sit comfortably?

✔ Can I raise my arms?

✔ Does the fabric skim instead of pull?

✔ Do I feel confident rather than self-conscious?

✔ Am I adjusting my outfit every few minutes?

If the answer is yes, you've probably found your fit.

Regardless of what the label says.

Fit Starts With Understanding Your Body

A good fit isn't just about size. It's also about proportion.

Two women wearing the same size can need completely different silhouettes because their body shapes are different.

That's why we always recommend understanding your body shape before building your wardrobe.

Why Laarc Doesn't Believe One Size Chart Is Enough.

At Laarc, we know that every garment fits       differently. A structured trouser won't fit like a   relaxed dress.

A wrap silhouette behaves differently from a   straight-cut shirt. That's why every Laarc   product includes its own size chart instead of   relying on one generic guide across the   collection.

We recommend styles based on body   shape, helping you choose garments that   complement your natural proportions.

Our goal isn't to help you fit into our clothes. It's to help you find clothes that fit you.

The Size Label Isn't Your Identity

Fashion has spent decades teaching women to chase smaller numbers.

We think it's time to chase something better.

Comfort.

Confidence.

Freedom.

Because no one notices the size stitched inside your clothes.

They notice how confidently you wear them.
